For the first time in its history, the 28th Breeders Cup World Championships was held at Churchill Downs, Inc. in consecutive years and marks a record eighth time the Championship was held at the legendary home of the Kentucky Derby. Previous editions of the Breeders Cup were held at Churchill Downs in 1988, 1991, 1994, 1998, 2000 & 2006. The previous six runnings had an average attendance of 73,556 with an all-time single day Breeders’ Cup crowd of more than 80 thousand spectators in 1998.
