The 2011 Mardi Gras Comedy Challenge is underway! Hundreds of comics from all across South Florida came to the Hollywood Beach Casino's open auditions held August 12th and 13th at the Dawg House Sports Bar. Last weeks open auditions resulted in 40 outstanding comedians moving on to compete for the Grand Prize. What is the Grand Prize of this hilarious Ft. Lauderdale event, you ask? The Comedy Challenge 2011 winner will receive $5,000 and the opportunity to open for comedy superstar Paula Poundstone on October 22nd at the spectacular outdoor Hollywood Racetrack Grandstand - the oldest of it's kind in the world!
Hollywood Florida Casino to Host 40 Stand Up Comics
Last week Mardi Gras Casino Florida held the 2011 Comedy Challenge open auditions where 40 fabulous comedians were chosen to advance to the Showcase Round. These entertaining comics will perform live at the Mardi Gras Casino’s Dawg House Sports Bar on August 18th and 19th at 8pm. During the Showcase Rounds each comic will perform 5 minutes of live stand up comedy and their auditions will be recorded on video. The top 25 comics will then advance to the qualifying rounds were they will have the chance to perform with hilarious headliners including Marion Grodin, Lady Roz G, Sarg, Eddie Brill, and Michele Balan.
